PS3: BioShock’s 5GB instillation gives us a Shock

An article over at eurogamer gave us a shock and reported that the instillation files of BioShock at almost 5GB. So if you have a 20GB PS3 this game alone will take up 25% of that space. Its difficult to understand why in this Blu-ray and age we still need to be installing majorly large files such as these.

Agreed the quality of gaming has evolved over the time as well as detail, definition and an over all games size. BioShock is not the only game large instillation’s have been adept from, Metal Gear Solid 4 also took more than its fair share of around 4.4GB on instillation alone. I believe the challenge is at the actual Blu-ray reader that’s reads the game and then send the information to the PS3 to process and visualise for our eyes to see.

If the reading speed were faster then there wouldn’t be so much time and space wasted on massive instillation files. The PS3 itself has more than enough power to handle multi processing of information that is read from the Blu-ray reader. The technology is still slightly new and there is plenty of room for improvement but unless we all get bigger Hard Drives games wont be sparing use of when it comes to Disk space as i can see all these factor increasing.

PS3 Games Heavy weight takes up to 40GB on Blu-ray: LittleBigPlanet

PS3 Games have the heavy weight on a 40GB Blu-ray disk as the much aniticpated game of the past two years has been reported to take up. An article on Game industry
cleverly titled as little big ambition has taken the crunch off of it ever being released as a download on PSN. Sony never did anounce weither it would or it woudnt but this says it all its impossible!

Although it would have been nice to have seen this title as a downloadable game on the bright side it just shows how much detail and depth have been worked into this release. There are set to be a massive bunch of extensive video tutorials on every aspect of this, what seems to be of even greater complexity, game. This is a definitive of what the Big in LittleBigPlanet was set out to represent.

Also what i looked up on ps3fanboy is that they have come across an interview with Media Molecule’s Alex Evans says that “a dual layer is 40GB, but we’re filling up the Blu-ray. One of the things on there is we’re having a lot of tutorial content - basically there are two paths through the game, the player’s route and the creator’s route.”

New LittleBigPlanet trailer shows Sackboy does the wild

The game seems to be coming close to its release now as there are more and more trailers being released and you cant release a trailer unless there’s something there to trail about. Im guessing development is going well and it shows in the above humour filled sackboy documentary done in an Australian accent :).

It is very eye catching and definitely makes you pay attention to what its about even if your eyes ain’t on it the wildlife documentary voice will reel you in. As its set in wildlife many new aspects of the game are revealed. I am really impressed by the graphics in customise mode. And there are girl sacks to that comes in handy for sack reproduction :)

Images taken from google images.

Gameplay of Metal Gear Solid 4.

The game is filled with cut scene “flashbacks” (although they’re not actually cut scenes, but still photos of past events, locations, or characters) that reference what happened in previous Metal Gear Solid games and how the events or characters relate to the setting of MGS4. Players are able to choose whether to view these scenes by pressing the X button [O button in some countries] on their controller when prompted. Players also have the choice of watching the Mission Briefing cut scenes from predetermined camera angles or exploring them with the Metal Gear Mk. II/III.
